I love a challenge. So when my client told me that this unique — but not your typical — purple and black table and chair set wasn't going anywhere, I had to dig into my resourceful juices.
Here was the situation: white and grey Calacatta floor tiles, a purple and black table and chairs with shiny chrome legs, and every wall a clinical, boring white. An apartment with so much potential, screaming for help in design, style and colour cohesion.
Allow me to share my thought process.
First, by wrapping the walls in an elegant grey wallpaper with a slight shimmer, I picked up on the grey running through the vein of the floor tile.
Second, instead of shying away from the purple tones, I embraced them — adding that exact shade of purple in the decorative pillows, which brought it all together.

By now it was already looking better. But I still wanted to tie in the black from the table in a sharp yet not overpowering way.
So I added something I had never done before, and I was thrilled with the results: black mirrored strips within the moulding all around the perimeter of the room, and in the frames. It made the perfect setting for a monumental Swarovski wallpaper — yes, real Swarovski stones that glisten with the purposeful direct lighting hitting them in just the right spot. This entrance is a real exhibition.

And in case you missed it, that black strip theme continues in the lower section of the elegant three-metre-tall curtain.
Or perhaps less of a cherry and more of a chandelier: a custom Swarovski black and chrome chandelier to finish off this majestic living room.

And there you have it — the Purple Palace. Or the Swarovski Showplace, whichever you prefer.
