Rounded Mouldings: The Detail Changing Modern Interiors

A short while ago the rescheduled design Expo finally took place, and the energy was electric. The halls were so packed I was honestly blown away. I know we have a massive community of frum architects and interior designers, but I hadn't fathomed there were thousands of us there.

Then the real surprise hit me. I started running into actual neighbours and non-designers who came out of sheer interest, just to see what's new. That was my lightbulb moment: you don't have to be a professional to want to know the latest in creating a beautiful home.

Which brings me to the star of the show at the Expo — פרופיל ריכוך, rounded mouldings. This relatively new type of moulding is everywhere right now, and for good reason.

What it makes possible

Nothing says "welcome in" better than an extravagant focal element that keeps you completely mesmerised. In this project I needed a major design feature to instantly pull attention away from a narrow entranceway. It was a metallic, colour-changing wallpaper that completely stole my heart — it called my name so loudly I couldn't ignore it, and I knew I had to build a spectacular space to showcase this masterpiece.

To tie the whole look together, I continued the concept of פרופילי ריכוך throughout the adjacent hallways.

"What exactly am I seeing here?" (I can hear your thoughts.) What you're looking at is an intricately designed ceiling with tiny integrated spotlights tracing the hallway, plus recessed lighting all along its perimeter for a softer option — think nightlight, Shabbos lighting. It adds immediate interest and elegance to an otherwise boring transitional area.

"How did you get that perfectly seamless rounded finish on the ceiling?" The answer lies entirely in the פרופיל ריכוך series engineered by Best Decor. They offer various radiuses and dimensions, but the core mechanism is the same, and that is exactly where the magic begins. The profiles allow for relatively easy installation, yet they deliver incredibly sophisticated results.

The double whammy

This is no fantasy, no 3D render. This is a true-to-life picture of a flawless, sharp ל shape moving up the two-tier walls across two entire floors. You noticed the seamless glass balustrade and the custom LED strip lighting tucked under every second step, didn't you? Well, by now you definitely have.

Now turn your head upwards to discover even more spectacular features sculpted out of פרופיל ריכוך. You're looking at this from an "ant's-eye view" — yes, I totally made that term up; it should be the exact opposite of a bird's-eye view, right? But listen: if I didn't make things up and challenge standard constraints, we would never get to experience breathtaking spaces like this.

What's coming next

Right now we are framing three massive architectural arches using — you guessed it — פרופילי ריכוך. Keep a close lookout for the final reveals; they are going to be absolute showstoppers.
